The design of the lamp “miyo“ was developed based on an origami structure. Due to the specific process of folding, all fragments are connected allowing for a very flexible movement of the whole object. The entire shape of the lamp can be changed by moving single components, a feature combined with the function of illumination.

The openable and closable parts were made out of OLEDs (organic light emitting diodes). For the remaining surfaces a contrasting material (e.g. wood) was chosen, giving various options for each customer‘s individual preferences.
Through opening more or fewer starshaped OLED-parts the intensity of light and the shape of the lamp can be adapted.
